EU constellation idea to go to Parliament by Feb. Will it be ready? Industry has diverging views on structure, funding

NOORDWIJK, Netherlands — The European Commission expects to go to the European Parliament in January or February with a costed proposal for a multi-orbit satellite constellation for secure data links to European governments and broadband access in Europe, the Arctic and Africa.

The Commission’s proposal will be based on the work of two consortia: a group of nine well-established satellite builders, operators and service providers, plus one telco — Orange: become a subscriber!
