CACI: We paid 5.5x revenue for satellite lasercom builder SA Photonics for scarcity value & coming government demand

PARIS — CACI International Inc. Chief Executive John S. Mengucci defended his company’s $275 million acquisition of space laser terminal builder SA Photonics as an investment in future huge demand for satellite laser optics by the U.S. government.

Virginia-based CACI already provides optical communications for large-scale missions, mainly for satellites in medium-Earth orbit and geostationary orbit. California-based SA Photonics, he said, is positioned to be a major provider for laser terminals on smaller satellites in low Earth orbit, for defense, intelligence and commercial customers . . .
