Ariane 5-to-Ariane 6 transition eroding revenue, profit at Europe’s launcher industrial base

SWANTON, Vermont — The transition of Europe’s established space-launch industrial base from the Ariane 5 to the new Ariane 6 vehicle is having a predictably negative effect on the financial results of Ariane rocket component builders.

The stresses on the business are doubly painful insofar as none of these companies can be certain of the timing and volume of the ramp-up of Ariane 6 production until after the late-2020 inaugural flight of Ariane 6.
