Airbus: Q1 Space System revenue up 28%, negotiations on space business merger continue

LA PLATA, Maryland — Airbus’s Space Systems division reported a 28.2% increase in revenue for the three months ending March 31, a remarkable performance for a business whose weakness has pushed Airbus to seek a merger or alliance with its European competitors, Thales and Leonardo.

In an April 30 investor call, Airbus Chief Executive Guillaume Faury said the company continues to review “different scenarios to create scale in the European space business,” without mentioning Project Bromo, which would create a joint venture with Thales . . .
