UK space minister floats possible OneWeb frequencies-for-work share deal with European Commission constellation

PARIS — British government officials said they remain hopeful that the OneWeb broadband mega constellation, now merged into satellite fleet operator Eutelsat, might still yield employment and other benefits in Britain.

George Freeman, the UK minister for science, research and innovation, went so far as to suggest that, because OneWeb’s Ku-band spectrum was registered by the UK’s Ofcom, Britain has a special claim on future OneWeb decisions, especially its Gen2 constellation.
