UAE seeks bids for government/commercial X-band radar satellite constellation in $816M Space Fund

PARIS — The United Arab Emirates is creating an $816.6-million National Space Fund to promote investment in space startups, with the first investment going to a constellation of small X-band radar satellites.

In its July 17 announcement, the government did not disclose what portion of the Space Funds’s 3 billion UAE Dirham initial funding would go to the radar constellation.

The first satellite is scheduled for launch in three years and will be built by “partnerships between the Emirati public and private sector together . . .
