UPDATE March 17: This story was updated to reflect the fact that Eutelsat, Intelsat and SES, which have C-band business in Canada, are expecting an equitable distribution of any proceeds generated from the C-band repurposing.

PARIS — Telesat’s T-19 Vantage satellite has suffered multiple failures of a battery-support component that, if compounded by further failures, could prevent the satellite from full operations during the two eclipse periods, with a combined duration of about three months per year.
