Telesat: Here’s how our LEO satellite constellation gets nearly $1 billion in Canadian government support

PARIS — Telesat detailed the commitment from the Canadian government to the company’s LEO broadband project that will total about $1 billion over 10 years pending finalization of an agreement.

The funding is expected to arrive in three separate tranches totaling 1.285 billion Canadian dollars ($981 million):

— 85 million Canadian dollars to offset Telesat’s early development costs for the LEO project, including the launch of around a dozen demonstration satellites.
