Spacecom selects Maxar’s SSL to build Amos-8; consequences for IAI’s production line unclear

PARIS — Israeli satellite fleet operator Spacecom on March 26 said it had contracted with Maxar Technologies’ SSL to build the Spacecom Amos-8 satellite, a deal that heavily incentivizes SSL to deliver the satellite in time for a late-2020 launch.

In a statement to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, Spacecom said the Amos-8 contract is valued at $112 million, and that SSL has committed to delivering the spacecraft 27 months after it receives Spacecom’s downpayment.
