Smallsat builder GomSpace reeling from Spanish contract termination; CEO steps down, workforce cut by 30%

MOUNTAIN VIEW, California — Merchant small satellite manufacturer GomSpace reported devastating 2022 financial results, much of it expected following the cancellation of a contract with a Spanish consortium, called Startical, that plans an air-traffic management constellation.

The results have raised the issue of whether GomSpace will be able to remain viable as a stand-alone company or will need to merge to survive. GomSpace’s founding chief executive Niels Buus, has resigned, and Chief Financial Officer Troels Dalsgaard has been named interim CEO.
