SES: Bid for EU Iris2 network is promising, business model TBD; U.S. C-band proceeds drop our leverage to 1x in early 2024

TUPPER LAKE, New York — Satellite fleet operator SES aid it’s “way too early” to assess the business model of Europe’s Iris2 secure connectivity project — possible investment by SES and revenues from it — given the unknowns yet to be resolved by Iris2’s sponsor, the European Commission.

SES has joined an Iris2 bidding team that includes competing satellite fleet operators Eutelsat and Hispasat, as well as Europe’s major satellite builders and telcos Deutsche Telekom and Orange:
