Rocket builder Avio: We’ll stand by our Ukrainian engine provider until it’s no longer tenable

PARIS — Rocket builder Avio SpA insisted it has enough Ukrainian-built Avum upper stage engine for its Vega and Vega-C rockets to cover its immediate needs but declined to say how many stages it had in stock.

Avio depends on the Yuzhmash manufacturing facility in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro to provide the Avum stage and its restartable RD-843 engine. Dnipro is reported to be among the cities bombed by Russian air strikes in recent days. In this context, it's difficult . . .
