Radar satellite constellation operator Iceye offers lessons from working with Ukrainian military

LA PLATA, Maryland — Finnish radar satellite constellation operator Iceye Oy said that nearly 18 months of work with the Ukrainian armed forces has demonstrated the tactical value to Ukraine of working with a commercial radar imagery provider — and a New Space one at that.

Iceye sold one of its satellites to Ukraine’s Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation, which raises funds for the Ukrainian war effort, in August 2022. The agreement, valued at $17 million, included a dedicated satellite for Ukraine and access to Iceye’s entire constellation.
