LA PLATA, Maryland — Oman’s startup Etlaq Spaceport has received initial approval from Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to proceed with bookings for orbital launches and plans to provide service to light- and heavy-lift rockets from four launch pads.
Ten months after conducting its first suborbital flight and eight months after signing its first agreement with a commercial space-launch company, Spain’s PLD Space, Etlaq said the CAA decision offers proof that Oman wants to be the first orbital spaceport in the Middle East . . .
