WASHINGTON — Millennium Space Systems, founded in 2001, is one of the oldest merchant providers of small satellites focused on the U.S. government market.

When it was purchased by Boeing in 2018, many of its smallsat counterparts shook their heads, saying: Millennium will disappear in all but name into the vast Boeing bureaucracy.
