BALLYSEEDE, Ireland — International regulators are facing increased pressure from the private sector to free up historically military spectrum for commercial space and terrestrial networks, part of a broader push by the private sector on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Regulators said the pressure will only increase as new technology could make it simpler for satellite constellation operators to bypass the ITU as too slow and too wedded to consensus.
