Matching German government, ESA awards contracts to 3 German small-launcher startups

PARIS — Three German companies designing small launch vehicles have won identical contracts — each valued at 500,000 euros ($582,000) — from the European Space Agency (ESA) to advance designs of their vehicles.

The companies — HyImpulse Technologies GmbH, Isar Aerospace Technologies GmbH and Rocket Factory Augsburg — were all given similar 500,000-euro awards earlier this year from the German government, which is the principal financier of ESA’s Commercial Space Transportation  Services and Support Program.
