Maritime connectivity provider KVH, seeking higher ground in Starlink competition, will shut down terminal production

LA PLATA, Maryland — Maritime connectivity provider KVH Industries, sharpening its focus on added-value services at a time when its business is threatened by SpaceX Starlink and other low-orbit satellite constellations, is shutting down its hardware manufacturing business.

In addition to phasing out maritime-terminal production at its Middletown, Rhode Island facility, KVH is trimming its staff by 75 employees, or 20% of its headcount. The company said the moves will save $9.3 million per year and will cost $3.3 million in severance payments in other . . .
