Malaysia’s Angkasa-X: 1st geospatial/AIS satellite up, 6 more in 2024 and an IPO in the US

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Angkasa-X of Malaysia, with its first test satellite in orbit carrying medium-resolution optical imaging and an Automatic Identification System (AIS) maritime surveillance payload, is building six more satellites to launch in 2024 and preparing an initial stock offering, IPO, in the United States.

Angkasa-X is pitching itself as a diversified made-in-Malaysia satellite data producer with an analytics platform that it says will separate it from the many U.S., European and Asian companies that will compete directly with it.
