It’s Belgium’s Aerospacelab vs Airbus France for Iris2 LEO-High prime contract; decision by year’s end

LA PLATA, Maryland — The SpaceRise satellite operator consortium that is managing Europe’s Iris2 multi-orbit, secure communications network has set up two “competitive dialogues” that will end in the selection of prime contractors for Iris2’s 270-satellite LEO-High orbit component and 18-20 satellites in medium-Earth orbit.

For the LEO segment, SpaceRise has opened a competition between Airbus Defense and Space of France and Aerospacelab of Belgium for the role of satellite prime contractor.
