Italian Space Agency chief: With our ESA & national programs, we’ve joined France and Germany as a European space pillar

PARIS — The Italian government in recent months has confirmed that it is ready to finance its long-held ambition of becoming a third pillar supporting European space ambitions alongside France and Germany.

It has been years in the making as Italy made clear its willingness to maintain support, over the long term, for its priority missions: The Vega medium-lift rocket of course, but also the Space Rider unscrewed space plane, Europe’s space exploration program and, specifically, the ExoMars mission.
