Iran asks international regulators to pressure U.S. to stop SpaceX Starlink’s unlicensed use in Iran

by Peter B. de Selding

PARIS — The Iranian government is asking the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to intercede with U.S. regulators to force SpaceX from continuing to allow the use of Starlink satellite broadband terminals on Iranian territory.

The Iranian request to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) comes after numerous written communications sent to SpaceX and to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) since October saying that Starlink needs a license to operate in Iran, as it does in most other nations.
