Here’s why Leonardo sees its space business as flourishing, with or without a merger with Airbus & Thales

LA PLATA, Maryland — The space business of diversified military and aerospace manufacturer Leonardo is showing robust health that suggests it is under little pressure to come to an agreement with Thales and Airbus on a merger of the three companies' space assets.

While remaining open to the idea — a way to create scale with the goal of improving the business’s telecommunications satellite division — Leonardo Chief Executive Roberto Cingolani said the company’s space division growth seems assured, with or without it.
