Germany says Covid and arson delays likely to push its H2Sat’s Ariane 5 launch with French military satellite to June

LA PLATA, Maryland — The German government now believes its civil/military Heinrich Hertz telecommunications satellite (H2Sat) will not be launched until June 2023 on what would be the last Ariane 5 rocket, rather than the previously scheduled February launch date.

The delays are the result of Covid-caused business slowdowns and the lingering effects of an arsonist attack at prime contractor OHB SE in Bremen, Germany.

The New Year’s Eve 2021 attack, by four unidentified individuals wielding Molotov cocktails and protesting OHB’s work . . .
