French Space Command looks at lessons from Ukraine war, will consider commercial leases over asset purchases

BRUSSELS — The French military is considering a much wider use of commercial space assets to increase flexibility, in part based on lessons from the Ukraine war, where the line between military and civil/commercial has all but disappeared, the head of France's Space Command said.

In a Jan. 25 address to the 15th European Space Conference here and extensive remarks Dec. 14 to the French parliament, French Air Force Gen. Philippe Adam gave a sober assessment of areas where France may not be able to afford to compete . . .
