Finland’s ReOrbit sells its first 2 GEO-orbit satellites to leasing company SLI for $173M; customers/orbital slots TBD

WASHINGTON — Aerospace asset-leasing company SLI has purchased two geostationary-orbit satellites from Finland’s ReOrbit, which is expanding its software-defined satellite design to larger platforms, in a contract valued at 150 million euros ($173.5 million).

The two satellites, using ReOrbit’s new Silta platform, will weigh less than 1,000 kilograms at launch and have an operating life of 10 years. Launch is scheduled for 2029 and 2030. ReOrbit declined to detail the payload performance.
