Eutelsat says Euro-African broadband strategy now bearing fruit, points to 6-year growth in free cash flow during revenue decline

PARIS — Satellite fleet operator Eutelsat, which is making wholesale broadband distribution a centerpiece of its future growth, said early results in Africa are validating its strategy.

With its Konnect Ka-band broadband satellite in service since late 2020, Eutelsat is preparing to move its African broadband traffic off fleet operator Yahsat’s satellite to Konnect, a process that will be completed in August. Konnect, operating from 7.2 degrees east, has 65 Ka-band spot beams with a total throughput of 75 Gbps.
