Europe’s GNSS Agency signs 15-year, $120M contract with Eutelsat for GPS/Galileo overlay services

PARIS — The European Union’s GNSS Agency, GSA, has contracted with satellite fleet operator Eutelsat to provide navigation satellite overlay services through a payload to be placed on a Eutelsat satellite to launch in 2022.

Under the contract, valued at 100 million euros ($120.4 million) over 15 years, Eutelsat will operate the GEO-3 payload as part the European Navigation Overlay Satellite Service, Egnos, which verifies the accuracy of signals sent by the U.S. GPS and European Galileo positioning, navigation and timing networks.
