European Space Agency’s 2020 budget up 16.8% over 2019 including final past-due payment from France

PARIS — The European Space Agency’s 2020 budget represents a 16.8% increase over 2019 following larger commitments from its 22 member states and major outside partners including the European Commission and Eumetsat, and a final past-due payment by France.

ESA’s budget for 2020 of 6.68 billion euros ($7.5 billion) takes only partial account of the agency’s November conference of its governments, which collected 14.5 billion euros to be spent over five years.
