EchoStar/Hughes to launch-vehicle providers: We need a direct-to-GEO launch in H1 2022 for Jupiter-3 satellite

PARIS— EchoStar Corp. hopes to minimize the most recent delay in the Jupiter 3 high-throughput Ka-band satellite, crucial for its Hughes Network Systems division to return to growth in North America, by taking advantage of new launch vehicles available by early 2022.

The $400-million contract for Jupiter 3, also known as Echostar 24, was signed in mid-2017 with what is now Maxar Technologies, the former Space Systems/Loral of Palo Alto, California.
