EchoStar/Hughes: 20,000 subscribers from Brazil JV with Yahsat brings Central/South American total to 237,000

LUXEMBOURG — EchoStar’s Hughes Network Systems broadband hardware and service provider inherited 20,000 subscribers with its new Brazilian joint venture with satellite fleet operator Yahsat, bringing Hughes’s total non-North American consumer broadband subscriber count to 237,000 at Dec. 31, 2019.

As expected, Hughes reported no growth in its North American subscriber base as its current capacity there is about full. But like its competitor, Viasat Inc., the company is generating higher revenue from its existing subscribers by using churn to shed . . .
