Canada’s regulator to hold public C-band auction, rejecting Telesat’s we’ll-handle-it proposal

PARIS — Canada’s radio spectrum regulator decided that it, and not Telesat, will manage the auction of a portion of the C-band spectrum that satellite operators will be forced to clear by March 31, 2025, with compensation for the affected satellite service provides to be decided at a later date.

The May 21 decision of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) — means Telesat will not have the power it wanted to manage the reallocation and auction . . .
