LA PLATA, Maryland — Startup satellite direct-to-device broadband service provider AST SpaceMobile’s conversion of its MoU with AT&T into a definitive commercial contract likely will be Exhibit A in AST’s argument for a loan from the U.S. Export-Import Bank (ExIm).

The AT&T agreement, announced May 15, is the first of what AST hopes will be several with other mobile network operators (MNOs) that, like AT&T, will agreed to substantial prepayments to be credited against MNOs’ cost . . .
