Arqit Quantum seeking a buyer for its ESA-financed quantum key distribution satellite and 40-member satellite team

PARIS — Post-quantum encryption provider Arqit Quantum Inc., which in late 2022 announced a software innovation that meant it no longer needed satellite hardware, said it is likely to sell its satellite division, including a quantum key distribution satellite nearing completion, instead of seeking satellites capacity-sharing agreements with customers.

London-based Arqit is maintaining its contract with the 22-nation European Space Agency (ESA), which is responsible for most of Arqit’s current revenue, pending the sale of the satellite, related patents and a a 40-person satellite . . .
