UPDATE DEC. 1Anuvu secured $50 million in new capital to finance its constellation of small GEO-orbit satellites and other growth initiatives, and its board approved an equity issue for the constellation's expansion beyond the two satellites currently on order.

BREMEN, Germany — For an aero- and maritime-connectivity provider to build its own satellite constellation at a time of falling transponder lease prices seems odd, but this is not the first time Anuvu, the former Global Eagle, has had unusual ideas about satellite capacity.
