Amazon Project Kuiper on Ka-band satellite/terminal tradeoffs & ensuring a return on $10 billion-plus of invested capital

LA PLATA, Maryland — Amazon Project Kuiper 's choice of an all-Ka-band constellation was made to keep consumer-premises equipment prices low even if it meant a heavier and larger satellite, a senior Amazon official said.

The official said Project Kuiper is an obvious benefit to Amazon by linking the satellite network with Amazon Web Services (AWS), a hand-off that should assure lower latency connections.
