Already invited to join Europe’s Copernicus and GovSatCom, Ukraine may be offered role in Iris2

AMSTERDAM — The European Union is considering inviting Ukraine to join the EU’s GovSatCom and Iris2 satellite telecommunications networks as it seeks to bolster Ukraine’s defenses against the Russian invasion.

How far the integration of Ukraine into the Iris2 multi-orbit secure broadband constellation could go remains to be decided. It follows earlier EU decisions to let Ukraine join Europe’s Copernicus environment-monitoring system, and the Space Weather and Near-Earth-Objects elements of the EU's Space Situational Awareness effort.
