ESA details proposed $1.4B investment in resiliency technologies to connect Earth observation, navigation and telecom assets

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — European Space Agency (ESA) officials detailed the proposals they’ll submit to their governments in late November relating to resilience in space, with separate funding streams for Earth observation, navigation and secure telecommunications linked to form a system of systems.

ESA’s goal is to accelerate development of programs wanted by the European Commission but unavailable to it until the European Union’s next seven-year budget is decided in 2028.
