EU Space Act, expected this week, modifies earlier draft, now makes all satellites subject to the same safety requirements

LE BOURGET, France —  The EU Commission has made at least one significant change to its proposed EU Space Act, which sets rules of behavior for any satellite operator doing business in the 27-nation EU, by requiring the same safety measures for satellites built by established companies and startups and universities.

An earlier iteration appeared to allow for startups to benefit from relaxed safety criteria, using the argument that they should be granted dispensations to account for their cash-strapped status.
